Apple
Botanical Name: Malus domestica L.
Varieties available:

Apples are a healthy refreshing, crunchy snack. They quench thirst and their acid content makes them a natural mouth freshener. The juice is honey sweet and spicy tart at the same time and the flesh is fragrant and crisp.

High in fiber, High in Vitamin C and Potassium, Low in Sodium, Almost fat-free.

How to Store:
The best place to store apples is in the refrigerated counters! Sliced or cut apples stay white longer if dropped in a bowl of water containing 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.

Banana
Botanical name: Musa sp. L.

Bananas are characterized for their bright yellow colour and sweet taste. They contain all 8 amino acids, which our bodies cannot produce. Bananas are a great snack, part of a meal or dessert; in a milkshake, with cereal, or in a banana split. Bananas are available all year.

How to store:
Bananas to ripen faster should be placed in the sun. Like other tropical fruits and tomatoes and bell peppers, never store bananas in the refrigerator. Below 8 degrees Celsius the fruit will decay from the inside. These fruits will not ripen but will turn black if refrigerated

Lime
Botanical Name: Citrus aurantium
Oval yellow/ green fruit with acidic juice used for drinks and flavoring. The limes and family are the most detoxifying fruits of all existing fruits.

How to store:

Orange
Botanical Name: Citrus sinensis

Oranges are oval to sphere-shaped fruits with leathery, porous skin. Their color ranges from orange to red-orange. It can be taken as a whole fruit or as juice. Orange and its juice are famous for drink, energetic, thirst killer, increasing digestion power etc.

Store them at 3-9 degrees Celcius.

Grapes
Botanical Name: Vitis vinifera L.
Grapes contain powerful antioxidants and resveratrol, which helps to prevent both the narrowing and hardening of the arteries. Ellagic acid, which has anti-cancer properties, is also contained in grapes. This alkaline fruit helps greatly to decrease the acidity of the uric acid and lends itself further in aiding the elimination of the acid from the system, thus benefiting the kidneys greatly

How to store:
Store grapes in cardboard boxes or crates lined with clean, dry straw. Bunches should be packed no more than two or three layers. Check grapes often for spoilage.

Guava
Botanical Name: Psidium guajava L.
The guava is a large plum sized tropical fruit with yellow, red or purple-black skin. A guava can be round or pear-shaped and look a bit like a quince.

  The edible portion or aril of litchi is white, translucent, firm and juicy. The flavor is sweet, fragrant and delicious.

How to store:
Litchi fruit could be extended by quick pre-cooling at 15°C and 95% RH and storing at 5°C.

Mango
Botanical Name: Mangifera indica L.

Mango fruits are oval and egg shaped with smooth, soft skin. The skin is usually a combination of green, red, and yellow. The interior flesh is bright orange and soft with a large, flat pit in the middle.

Nutritional Facts:
High Beta-carotene. Beta-Carotene has a protective affect against the harmful rays of the sun. Mangoes contain Vitamin A. plus are a good source of dietary fibre

How to store:
The best-flavored fruit have a yellow tinge when ripe; however, color may be red, yellow, green, orange or any combination. When stored properly a mango should have a shelf life of 1 to 2 weeks. The best way to ripen a mango is at room temperature.

Papaya
Botanical Name: Carica papaya L.
The fruit is ripe when it feels soft (like a ripe avocado or a bit softer) and its skin has attained amber to orange hue. The fruit's taste is vaguely similar to pineapple and peach, although much milder, creamier, and more fragrant.

Nutritional Facts:
The most common use for papaya is to aid digestion. Papayas are the only natural source of papain, an effective natural digestive aid, which breaks down protein and cleanses the digestive track. They are also good sources of Fibre, Vitamin A and Vitamin E.

How to store:
To speed up the ripening process, place papaya in a paper bag with fruits that produce ethylene gas like apples, bananas or pears, loosely closed for one or two days.

Pineapple
Botanical Name: Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.
Pineapple is one of those fruits that is considered heavenly to eat. The benefits of pineapple can be achieved through eating fresh, canned, or frozen pineapple or by drinking its juice.

The obvious benefits of pineapple are all the vitamins and minerals the fruit is loaded with. Its nutrients include calcium, potassium, fiber, and vitamin C. In addition it is low in fat and cholesterol

How to store:
Fresh pineapple is quite perishable. If storing at room temperature, use within two days. Once trimmed and cut, be sure the pineapple is covered in juice in an airtight container, refrigerate and use within five to seven days. Let the fruit return to room temperature before serving/ eating to improve flavor.

Pomegranate
Botanical Name: Punica granatum L.
The tough, leathery skin or rind is typically yellow overlaid with light or deep pink or rich red. The interior is separated by membranous walls and white, spongy, bitter tissue into compartments packed with sacs filled with sweetly acid, juicy, red, pink or whitish pulp or aril. In each sac there is one angular, soft or hard seed

Nutritional Facts:
Pomegranate fruits contain polyphenols, tannins and anthocyanins - all are beneficial antioxidants. Interestingly, pomegranate juice contains high levels of antioxidants - higher than most other fruit juices, red wine or green tea.

How to store:
Fresh, unopened pomegranates should be kept at room temperature (out of direct sunlight) for a week or two and can last in the refrigerator for a month or more.

The flesh is salmon-colored, with a sweet, berry-like flavor.

The fruits are highly perishable and can be stored under ordinary condition for a period of 7-8 days after harvesting.
